Orthodontic treatment moves teeth into better positions. Straighter teeth are easier to clean, can improve how your upper and lower teeth meet, and often give patients more confidence in their smile. The clinic provides orthodontic care for children, teenagers and adults.
Who can benefit
- Crowded, crooked or widely spaced teeth.
- Teeth that stick out, or an overbite, underbite or crossbite.
- Children whose adult teeth are coming in out of place.
- Adults who never had treatment as a child. It is not too late.
How treatment works
Treatment starts with an examination, X-rays and a discussion of your goals. Braces are then fitted to the teeth and adjusted at regular visits to move the teeth gradually. Treatment length depends on how much correction is needed and is usually measured in months to a couple of years.
When the braces come off, a retainer keeps the teeth in their new positions.
Living with braces
Brush carefully around the brackets after every meal, avoid very hard or sticky food that can break them, and keep every adjustment appointment so treatment stays on schedule.
This page is general information, not a diagnosis. The dentist will recommend treatment after examining you.
